How much to stock next week, and where shelves keep running empty

Changes with your settings

Plan stock for the test week

Shortage and waste costs and shelf life are your assumptions. Each plan's stock setting was tuned on four earlier weeks for that exact case, then run once on the test week, 26 June to 2 July 2024. Costs are per 100 units of demand, in relative units.

Product forecast

500 store-product pairs: the 250 with the most estimated lost demand and 250 picked at random. The last four weeks show recorded sales, estimated demand and empty hours. The test week shows the forecast range made on 25 June, the stock target for your settings above, and what then happened. All 50,000 pairs are in the forecast file below.

How the forecasts compare

Error is total absolute error as a share of recorded sales. In-stock days are days with no empty hour, where recorded sales are the whole demand.

Files

The forecast file has every pair for every day of the test week: the cutoff, how many days ahead, the 10% to 90% range, the median and the stock target for the central case (shortage twice waste, two days of shelf life). The forecast date is the cutoff plus the days ahead. The review list ranks every pair by estimated lost demand in the history. All figures are normalised, not units or money.
