Privacy notice
This notice explains what personal information Dunwell collects, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who we are
Dunwell is the trading name of Michael Udousoro, a sole trader established in England. Dunwell Studio is the overall brand, with Dunwell Insights for analysis and Dunwell Creative for product content. Both services are run by him. For the information described here, we decide how it's used.
Address: 41 Lenz Close, Colchester, CO1 2FP, United Kingdom
Email: info@dunwellstudio.com
What we collect
- Enquiries: your name, email, shop link, the service you're interested in and your message.
- Emails you send us.
- Your account: your name and email. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google.
- Orders: your billing name and address (we use a postcode lookup to fill it in), your brief, your messages with us, and the files you upload.
- Payments: Stripe takes your card details. We never see them. We get a record that you paid and the amount.
Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry, because you asked us to.
- To run your account and deliver your order, because that's our contract with you. For Creative orders, this includes processing your product photos with AI tools.
- To keep invoices and business records, because the law requires it.
- To keep the site secure and stop spam and abuse, because we have a legitimate interest in doing so.
We don't sell your information or use it for advertising. We only send you marketing emails if you say yes.
If you're a customer of one of our clients
When a shop hires Dunwell Insights, its order data may include information about its own customers. In that case we handle it only on the shop's behalf and on its instructions. The shop is responsible for it, so please contact the shop first. We ask shops to remove names and contact details before sending data wherever they can.
Who we share it with
We use a few services to run the business. They only use your information to provide their service to us.
| Service | What it does for us |
|---|---|
| Netlify | Hosts the website and runs its forms |
| Supabase | Accounts, order records and uploaded files (stored in London) |
| Stripe | Payments and refunds |
| Resend | Sends our emails, such as sign-in links and order updates |
| Ideal Postcodes | Looks up your address from your postcode |
| Sign-in, if you choose "Sign in with Google" | |
| Cloudflare Turnstile | Checks that forms are filled in by a person, not a bot |
| Our email provider | Our info@dunwellstudio.com inbox |
| AI tools (Adobe Firefly and Canva) | Create Creative images and videos. Where a tool lets us, we switch off the use of your files for training |
Some of these services store information outside the UK, for example in the United States. Where they do, they use the safeguards UK law requires.
Cookies and storage
We use no analytics or advertising trackers. When you sign in, your browser stores a sign-in token so you stay signed in. That's needed for your account to work. Stripe's checkout page runs on Stripe's own site and uses its own cookies to prevent fraud.
How long we keep it
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Enquiries that don't become orders | 12 months after we last heard from you, then deleted |
| Your account | While it's open. If you ask us to close it, we delete it within 30 days, apart from records we must keep |
| Data, photos, clips and other files you send | Deleted within 30 days after your order closes |
| Your final files | Available for 90 days after your order closes, then deleted |
| Brand files for future Creative orders | Only if you ask us to keep them, until you ask us to delete them |
| Invoices and order records | At least 5 years after the 31 January tax return deadline for that tax year, as HMRC requires |
| Backups | Deleted files can stay in secure backups for up to 30 days before they expire |
Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop or limit how we use it. You can also object to us using it, or ask for a copy in a format you can take elsewhere. Email info@dunwellstudio.com and we'll reply within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
